He moved to Loveland CO from Liberal KS in 1944 with his family and graduated from Loveland High School.
He earned a Bachelor's degree at the University of Colorado where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He also received an MBA at the University of Denver and a Law degree from the University of Denver Law School.
Russell was a Trust Officer, Assistant District Attorney and practiced law in Loveland CO, was a Trust Officer and Realtor in Hawaii, a Municipal Judge for 10 years in Greeley CO including presiding at weddings as a Justice of the Peace before retiring and moving back to Hawaii and then settling in San Jose CA with his wife, Judy.
Russ served in the Air Force National Guard during the Korean war.
He loved to travel and visited Hawaii many times before moving there several times.
Traveling throughout the United States, Australia, Europe and Israel were the highlights in his life.
Rusty lived in several cities throughout his life in Kansas, Colorado, Hawaii and California.
He is survived by his wife Judy Ann Pugh. Brother Gerald (Kae) Pugh.
Four children: Daughters Lynn Kensinger (Pat Nichols), Dianne Taylor (James), Krista Kaminski, and son Stephen G. Pugh (Shelly).
He had 7 grandchildren - Stephen Kensinger (Laura), Joseph Kensinger (Christina), Courtney Loyer (Kyle), Sammy Jo DeYoung (Seth), Stephen James G. Pugh, Sierra Kaminski, and Crosier Kaminski.
Five great grandchildren and 4 nephews and 1 niece.
Snow skiing, tennis, biking, swimming, body surfing, jogging, hiking and watching football were some of his passions. He was a devoted Presbyterian and served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and the Treasurer. He volunteered with several organizations including Rotary and Junior Achievement to name a couple. He loved to read the Bible and was a Bethel Bible instructor sharing the Bible with others.
Listening to Hawaiian music, Broadway show music and orchestra music gave him great pleasure.
Rusty was a much-loved son, brother, husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle.
We will miss his humor, laughter, great advice, knowledge and love.
He taught us many things and was so proud of his family.
