Robert Ray Gonzales, 46, of San Jose, California left this earth peacefully to be with our Lord after a long battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on February 01, 2018. Robert was the 11th child born to Guillermo and Teresa Gonzales on October 06, 1971. He is survived by his parents, his wife, Alma Violeta, who was the love of his life, his four children Robert Ray Jr., Serina Marie, Roman Rey, Lilianna Jazmyne and grandson, Matthew Jr. He is also survived by his five brothers Jerry, Rogelio, Willy, Jose and Valentino, his three sisters Maria Consuelo, Martha and Anita as well as 51 nieces and nephews.
Robert was a very happy child with big dreams. He was an outstanding high school varsity football and baseball player. He graduated in 1990 from Yerba Buena High School in San Jose, California. He earned his Associate’s Degree from Evergreen College in San Jose, CA. Robert was a loving, caring and devoted son, husband, father, brother, godfather, uncle, friend and boss. Robert enjoyed skiing, golfing, investing in the stock market, dancing and cooking. He was always the life of the party. His smile was so infectious that he brought smiles to everyone’s faces. He loved to travel as much as he loved being a soccer coach. He coached Roman’s soccer team for several years and really enjoyed working with kids and bettering them.
Robert always strived to be the best he could be, and it was through his dedication and perseverance that led him to achieve and realize his biggest dream. In 2014, he opened up his own food services and distribution company, which he named Right Choice Services. He prided himself on always giving excellent customer service, which paid off when he was awarded a contract with Facebook.
Robert was such a hard working and giving person. Not only was he committed to his company but also to giving back to the community. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and was involved with his children’s elementary school, the Adelante Academy Family. He always brought the best out of people and made the best of every situation.
When Robert was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, he remained dedicated in his work and in his will to fight his illness. He was a great, tough and very brave fighter beyond belief. His strength through his whole battle was admirable. He will be missed by so many, and his memory will live on through his family, friends, and by all of those whose lives he touched throughout the years.
