Resident of Saratoga
Our beloved Mary (Mama, Grandma Mary, Mairmee and Mimi) passed away quickly and quietly at home in the arms of her husband, Jim and her caregiver on Thursday, February 21st.
An elementary school teacher, mother of 5 and grandmother of 10, she certainly lived life to the fullest and the best. Wasn't she something? She loved her life-long career of teaching children and found it very rewarding. The many many friends she made through teaching enriched her life greatly and she enjoyed a wonderful social life.
This well-travelled lady went to Europe 21 times and especially loved England. She and Jim ventured to many points all over the globe including New Zealand and Hong Kong. Mary always had a yearning to see the wide world we share and learn new things.
Shall we talk about her many talents? An amazing gardener, she relished spending time in her garden and always had a beautiful array of blooming color that she and Jim enjoyed greatly. Mary was quite the seamstress as well, creating wonderful home decor, crafts and Halloween costumes that got passed down and well-used by her grandchildren.
Mary was warm and friendly, kind and thoughtful, but she also loved her quiet time with a good book or a hot bath. She definitely made the most of life and took all it had to offer, while leaving a wonderful legacy behind. We are all better off for having had her in our lives.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 23rd at 1pm at Oak Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Jose Public Library, Children's Book Dept, Edendale Branch; 408-808-3036.
