I've thought of you often since I was in your first kindergarten class in 1962. I still remember learning how to read step by step and being thrilled to see how it all worked and to utilize it. As my introduction into education you were very compassionate and ran a tight ship. It was a pleasure to learn from you as you made it interesting.  I also was lucky enough to have you for 1st grade as well. I remember we'd have daily discussion times about current events and one time we discussed The Beatles being on Ed Sullivan the night before so it must have been a Monday discussion.  We also talked about the Supreme Court decision banning prayer in school another day. When JFK was assassinated you took control as the principal was broadcasting the play by play over the intercom which we really didn't understand.  Calmly you sent us home early and safely. Yes I treasure those moments as you had a way about you that you understood us individually and guided us to be the best we could be with great motivation and support. Memories!

I have fond memories of Marg and the Tsuji family.  They were dear neighbors for 12 years in Almaden.  In the first few years we would occasionally get together for a glass of wine and share stories of our lives.  It was always a pleasure to spend time with them.  Marg was truly an angel who will not be forgotten.  Rest in peace, my friend.

Marjorie Akie Tsuji passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, in San Jose, CA, with family by her side. Marge is survived by her two sons, Chris and Zack, along with Zack's wife, Duong “Betty,” their two children, Elise and Kenzo; and a host of close nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Seiyo Tsuji; father, Kazuo Kage; mother, Chizuko Ogata Kage; and younger sister Anna Viela.
Marge was born October 14, 1938, on Maui, HI. Upon graduating from Baldwin HS in Wailuku, Maui, she left to attend Lawarence University in Wisconsin, eventually graduating from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Education and later a Master of Education degree from Santa Clara University. Marge worked as an elementary teacher in Chicago, and Sunnyvale, CA from 1960–1969. She later went to work for McGraw Hill Book Co., and then Sullivan Associates Book Co. where she authored several manuals in the basal reading series. Marge eventually stepped back from her career to devote her time to raising her two adopted sons and generously volunteering her time across many charities and organizations.
Marge's life was marked by her dedication to her family, friends, and her community. She will be remembered for her caring spirit, unwavering love and support for family and friends, strength in the face of adversity, devotion to protecting civil rights, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. Marge was beloved by nearly everyone she met. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of so many. Her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren, who will continue to honor her memory. Marge will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Marge's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the San Jose JACL, Yu-Ai Kai San Jose, The Parkinson’s Foundation, or a charity of your choice in her name.
