Maria Vega Hernandez

Maria Vega Hernandez, a long-time resident of San José, California, passed away on Thursday, June 22nd while vacationing through San Antonio, Texas. Born in 1933 in Edcouch, Texas, Maria was a retired cosmetologist, a loving mother of three sons, loving wife of 47 years, and everyone's "Second Mom."

Maria is survived by her two sons, David Martin Hernandez and Ronald Lee Hernandez, and her son-in-law, Daniel R. Thompson. Maria is preceded in death by son Henry John (Enrique Juan) "Hank" Hernandez and husband Eusevio "Ike" Hernandez.

Maria loved living life to-the-fullest by traveling, golfing, preparing incredible meals, sharp shooting, singing and dancing often, listening to live music, socializing, and spending quality time with friends and family. Everyone that met her, loved her. Maria will also be remembered for her wonderful smile, generous nature, quick wit and beautiful fire-red hair! Memories of her will be treasured... and there is joy in believing that Heaven just got a lot more fun!

A rosary service for Maria will be held on Sunday, July 2nd at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Roses at the Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park cemetery. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3rd at 9 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph in downtown San José, followed immediately afterwards by a burial graveside service and memorial reception at Oak Hill cemetery. Friends and family are welcome.
