With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Pascual "JR" Vicente, Jr. He courageously battled stage IV colon cancer with determination and strength. Surrounded by his immediate loved ones in his home, he passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023, at the age of 60. JR was a loving husband to Nerissa and a devoted father to Jayssa and Dillon.
JR was born on October 19, 1962, in Cavite, Philippines, to Pascual Vicente, Sr. and Remedios Lopez. He was the third child among his siblings: Rex, Pressy, and Vynylyn. His family later moved to California, where he eventually started working as a Mechanical Technician in Santa Clara, CA. After a few years, he met his wife, Nerissa, while working at the same company.
Fast forward to 1987 - they took their first trip together to Honolulu, HI, and returned home as newlyweds. A year later, their first child, Jayssa, was born, followed by their second child, Dillon, five years later. They raised their children in San Jose, CA, until they made the decision to relocate to Hawaii, where they had first embarked on their married life together.
JR was known for his kind and friendly nature, which endeared him to many. He had a great sense of humor and an endless supply of stories that brought laughter to those around him. To his wife and children, he was more than just a husband and a father; he was a role model, a master of all trades, and always put his family first.
In spare time, JR enjoyed listening to his old records and playing the guitar. Dillon would play the drums or bass, while JR took the lead. Outside of his music, he found enjoyment working on his 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe truck, a vehicle that held countless family memories.
When it came to his family, JR had a deep connection with his children and brought endless joy to his family through his playful spirit and gentle heart. Dillon and Jayssa were not only his pride and joy, but also his closest companions. His love for his family was endless, and his sense of humor and affectionate nature will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
Though he may no longer be with us in person, his legacy is deeply ingrained in the hearts of his children and his beloved wife. His spirit lives on through the everlasting bonds he nurtured, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so generously to his family.
