Esther Vazquez was born in San Jose, California on February 12, 1935, and went home to be with the Lord on November 28, 2015, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She loved God and she lived out that love by a life of service to her family, friends, and others. She was compassionate, unselfish and caring. Her happiest days were when she made others happy, and made them feel loved and special. She loved to travel and spent time in Yemen, England, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, with her daughter Mary and her family. One of her most exciting trips was to go to the Holy Land with a group from her church, Cathedral of faith.
She loved to sing. It seems she bought every one of “The Gathiers” DVD’s. She would spend hour’s everyday singing along with all the greats like Howard and Vestal Goodman, Jake Hess, Bill & Gloria Gaither and a host of the best singers God ever created. Even when her memory was failing and she couldn’t remember our names or who we were, she could still sing the old songs of the cross, lost in a world that was not of this earth.
There is a verse in Proverbs 31 that best describes this amazing woman.
“Her children arise and call her blessed; many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised”.
