Eric was a son, brother, husband, and father. He was born to Norman and Sophie Hudson, on April the 9th, 1943 in Coventry, England.
As a child and young adult Eric attended King Henry VIII School graduating in 1961. Upon completion he attended 3 Universities ending with a degree in Electrical Engineering and a specialization in Control Engineering in 1967.
He married Wendy Anne Samways in 1971. During their early marriage Eric took work that brought him and Wendy to the States. While here they made a home in Charlotte, NC where they had two sons, Mark and Keith.
In 1996 while the dot com boom was flourishing Eric and Wendy moved the family to the Bay Area for the continued growth of Eric’s career. Near the end of the 2000’s Eric retired from professional pursuits and began following his passions.
Eric accomplished many goals and earned numerous accolades during his career. However, it was his passions that defined him, not his career. He had many passions; flying (gliders), Scouting, volunteering, Formula One, shooting, and technology to name a few. He would dive in head first and give himself completely to mastering each one. Then he would find a way to share these passions with others. In doing so many people came to know Eric and this is how he touched so many lives.
Eric is survived by his mother Sophie, brother Barry, wife Wendy, and sons Mark (Amanda) and Keith (Anita).
To all those whose lives he touched, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 1st, at 11 a.m. at the Almaden Hills United Methodist church in the Fellowship Hall. The family asks that this remain a drug and alcohol free event.
