David was born on May 27, 1931 in Porterville, CA to Emmett Alvarez and Aurora Valderrain.
He attended San Joaquin Memorial College Preparatory, Tulane University, and graduated from the University of Berkley California having studied civil engineering and land surveying. He became a Professional Licensed Land Surveyor and worked for CalTrans before taking a position with the County of Santa Clara where he worked for over 20+ years. During his civil work experience he also worked for the City of Chula Vista and then took a position as the City Land Surveyor for the City of San Jose until his retirement.
But retirement did not stop him or slow him down. He continued his love of his profession by starting his own business as an extraordinarily successful land developer as well as running a civil engineering and land surveying company that spanned over 50 years in operation. He valued providing excellent service and was a well-known surveyor who others sought out for his wisdom, knowledge and expertise.
David’s love was always for his God, wife, children, and grandchildren. They were his world. He was a faithful provider, father and husband. He was a role model and our hero. Family always came first. But he was also known as a generous giver of his time and resources. He was an encourager and a man of great faith in his Savior.
He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel Renteria and sister Rebecca Martin Del Campo. He is survived by his wife Bertha, his three children, David, Sylvia, Cynthia, his grandchildren Justin, Rachel and his sister Lydia Martinez along with numerous nephews and nieces, and grand puppy Amos.
He left his mark upon this world, as man should, he will enter the kingdom of God, and will be missed by the lives of those he touched.
