Chuck, as his friends and family knew him, was born on April 7th, 1942 in San Jose, CA to Tony and Carmelita (Friedrichs) Peters. After a brief enrollment at California Polytechnic State University in 1960 he returned to northern California where he spent most of his life as cattle rancher and baker before inheriting ownership of Peters’ Bakery in 1996.
Chuck had a passion collecting history. From magazines, newspapers, books, war memorabilia, letters, and many other collectables. He was diligent in preserving and keeping the condition of many of these items. He was a loyal Oakland Raider supporter and never could pass up a game of cards. Often he would spend weekends in Lake Tahoe at the blackjack table and, more often than not, come home a winner. Chuck was a notorious story and joke teller. He has an amazing mental repository for facts, names, and stories and would take any opportunity you gave him to bend your ear and regale you those tales.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Tony, his mother, Carmelita, and his sister, Jean. He is survived by his two children, Charles and Cassandra, his brother, David, his sister, Marion, and several cousins, nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 14th, 2019 in the Chapel Of Roses at Oak Hill Funeral Memorial Park, San Jose at 11 o’clock a.m.
