Carmen passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 23, 2021. She was 86 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Josephine Roach; two sisters, Josie Gonzalez and Marina Rios; and one brother, Bill Roach. She is survived by her children: Yolanda (Cassie), Daniel (Vera), granddaughter Tina, and great granddaughter Sage; long time companion Francisco "Paco" Bahena; four brothers: Carl, Richard, Art, Rubin, and Marion Roach; three sisters: Regina Alvarado, Martha Hartman, and Elizabeth Aguilar; and many nieces and nephews.
Carmen was employed as a teacher's aide at William Roger's school in San Jose for five years. She then was employed with the Sheriff's department as a CSA for almost nine years, and retired in 1997. Carmen had always enjoyed singing. Whenever she had company, she would ask Paco to play his guitar so they could sing songs together. She enjoyed gardening and needlework, especially sewing, crocheting, and embroidery; a hobby she shared with her daughter. She loved to read Danielle Steele novels, work crossword puzzles, and play games on her Kindle.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Oak Hill Cemetery - Grace Chapel, in San Jose. Viewing will be from 9-10, and services from 10-11. Graveside service to follow immediately.
