On January 1, 1958 a beautiful Angel was born in Greenville, Mississippi to the loving parents George and Lillian Lum and the world became a brighter and more vibrant place because Dear Beautiful Rose graced this earth and all she touched with her amazing smile, her infectious laugh, her generous spirit, her amazing dedication to her life’s work and the power and gift of bringing all of us together in the enjoyment of life and LOVE. Rose is survived by her amazing and wonderful Mom, Lillian and brother Richard, wife Sandy and children Roch, Alesis and Trinity. We can envision her younger sister Jeanne welcoming her loving big sister with open arms as they embark on new adventures together in heavenly Nirvana. And always by her side is her loving, devoted husband Leland, who fell in love with Rose and pursued her ardently and affectionately until he swept her off her feet and made all her romantic wedding, epic travel, diamond & Chanel dreams come true! Leland & Rose knew each other in high school where Rose attended Skyline High and Leland attended Oakland High. They did not connect then, but as fate would have it were “fixed up” by Roxanne & Patrick in 2012 and the love affair of a lifetime began! Leland and Rose were married on Sept 14, 2013 and Leland’s sons Andrew, Brandon, wife Vy & Evan became Rose’s family as the amazing relationships solidified and the bond formed when Baby Aspen fell in love and connected with her favorite Grandma Rose! There are no words as precious as a baby trying to call Grandma Rose on a TV remote to come play with her. Thank you all for filling Rose’s heart with so much love!
Rose graduated from SF State in 1980 and embarked on science/research work with UCSF becoming a Clinical Laboratory Scientist where she did microscopic studies and worked tirelessly on health disease research and study. Later in her career, Rose was promoted to Supervisor at UCSF where she continued her life’s work in continued health work for the betterment of all.
Rose was successful in buying a condominium in Daly City. Rose was successful in all her endeavors as she was able to fulfill her dream of home ownership when she bought a beautiful house in San Bruno in 2005.
In the midst of all this dedicated work, Rose was the life of the party! She always knew where, what, how, what means and places to gather and where the fun was! Rose had connections to museum free days, dance parties, club openings, campaigns, Macys, Bloomingdales’ outreach events, multi-cultural fairs, festivals, concerts and grand gala openings! There was never, ever a dull moment in Rose’s action packed life as she truly brought us all so much joy and enriched our lives completely!
Rose and Leland traveled the world and often with their trusty companions Arnold & Gayle Lee! They went to Thailand, Singapore, England, Hawaii, Taiwan. Rose also traveled to Europe with Deb & Bil and went on cruises with Lynda & Margie to Cabo, Cancun & Vancouver.
Rose sold her home in San Bruno and fulfilled a lifelong dream of living in the heart of San Francisco; where Leland and Rose bought a beautiful home overlooking the Giant’s stadium. That’s where their walking adventures began; miles and miles covered walking their neighborhood and taking along willing accomplices to tour beautiful San Francisco. We all left our hearts in San Francisco the day Rose left us to become the Angel that she always was. Thank you Leland for loving and supporting and making our Rose so very happy. Thank you to all her loving family and her wonderful friends for enriching her life in every way possible. We are heartbroken, we are broken with the loss of beautiful Rose and so very thankful that she graced all of our lives with her wonderful and beautiful soul. Rest in Power Dear Rose. Rest in the LOVE you gave to all of us with eternal gratitude and appreciation always.
