Joe was a master mariner. He was married to Dorothy Wright Franken for 67 years before her death in 2010. He was the beloved father of Jeanne Franken and father-in-law of Frederick Harder. He is also survived by three brothers, Bernard, Ernest and Arend Franken, and a sister, Alice Freund, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe lived a long, full and interesting life. He was loved and will be missed by his family and his many friends.
He will be interred at Olivet Memorial Park in Colma, California.
