Wan Fui worked tirelessly to better his life and for his family over his 82 years: 20 years in China, 40 years in Hong Kong, and 22 years in the United States. After graduating high school in Shanghai, he followed his dad to Hong Kong. He had a successful career at the Tai Hing Cotton Mill for 40 years, from an entry level position cleaning machines to the head of the facto- ry when he retired. With a vision for a better future for his family, he applied to immigrate to the United States with his brother Paul’s sponsorship. While the family settled in San Diego, Wan Fui stayed in Hong Kong alone to work for 10 years before his retirement. His hobbies were: travel, stamp collection, photography, investments, history, gardening, collecting art, and most of all, reading books, lots and lots of books.
Wan Fui was preceded in death by his parents Chong Lung Hoi and Yang Sui Mei, his wife Chen Wei Fong, and brother Chong Fuk Fui. He is survived by his wife Betty, his five children, Robert, Iris, Fred, Lucy, and Jeffrey, his siblings Paul, Diana, and Tommy, and six grandchildren.
