She was a dynamic person, helped my shop get their first Collective Bargaining Agreement. She was always there to help with IAM members and fighting for the rights of the machinist union membership. As one of our BR stated, "We were blessed to have her on our side as long as we did". She will be sorely missed. Prayers for Carl and family, know she is in heaven, no more pain no more sorrow, fully enlightened.

My deepest condolences Sharon Mateja, Eric Cobb and Carl Cobb. Although I live faraway, I have always felt very close to her, since I was very welcome into her house and treated like family. She made my dream of visiting America come true, and I will keep all those great memories and be grateful forever.

Virginia Cobb! A life well lived. A friend to many and an inspiration to all. Although we worked together at GD we were also good friends. Shopping, trips to the garment district in LA, whale watching, Padres games, Halloween parties, it was alway a fun time to be at her side causing "trouble". How can anyone forget her sense of humor and laugh. Such a bright spirit will NEVER be forgotten. Gone too soon, time went by in a twinkeling of an eye. RIP Virginia

Hello old friends, so sorry for your lost love Carl and Eric.  Virginia helped me so much raising my son Zachary around the Union Hall in the 90's. Zachary still has the ghost plant that you guys gave him when he was five.(he just turned 29) Virg would always have her candy dish to pass out candy. Always with love Virg. Seeing her at the Charger games tailgate was so much fun with her. Virg what a hard worker you were Representing us to the fullest.  No short cuts. E-Line! Virg what a loving mom Eric. Carl and Eric she will always have a place in our hearts.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Virginia's passing as the news came as quite a shock. You have my sincerest sympathy.

I know how much she meant to you all and her passing will be hard. Please take comfort in the the many wonderful years and countless memories you had together. Virginia was a very special lady. I will always remember her beautiful smile and her boisterous laugh. She was a joy to be around and I enjoyed her visits to the office. She was always so thoughtful and brought the office healthy snacks to enjoy. To this day, I always think of her when I see a fruit tray.  My favorite thing about her visits however, were the delightful stories of her adored grandchildren and family.  My thought and prayers are with you.

Virginia was a very special person.  I worked with her at GD when I served in the Labor Relations and Human Resources roles.  She was an extremely kind and fair human being.  A great leader of the Alumni Club and my thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Carl and Eric, I am so sorry for your loss.  I knew Virginia to be a devoted wife, mother, and dedicated union sister.  I first met Virginia in 1977 as my Union Representative at General Dynamics Electronics Division.  She was a strong female leader in a male dominated IAM&AW.  When she was first became active in the union in the 1960's, it wasn't easy for women to run for union office, but through her strong will, intelligence, and love of her fellow workers, she pioneered the way for other women in labor like myself.   I served with Virginia in Local Lodge 1125, District 50 of the Machinists Union as an elected Business Representative from 1985 until 1994.   It was always a tough job and I grew to appreciate Virginia's dedication to the labor movement which she continued to serve in for many years until her retirement. Even then,  she served as a leader of our retired Machinist Union members.  I wish Virginia could have lived on this earth for a few more years to enjoy her grandchildren as they grow up. I wish she could have continued to be a voice for the working man and woman in these times when they seem forgotten.  But we all must lay down and rest one day from our labor.  May we all leave an honored legacy of accomplishment for our fellow human beings as Virginia did.  May you rest in peace, Virginia.

It is with a heavy heart that I share my condolences and sympathy with you and your family. I first met Virginia in 1999 during a contract negotiations with CAE. We were able to bargain a great agreement for our members from San Diego and Tucson. We spoke with each other routinely after the negotiations continually honing and refining our bargaining skills and tactics with Service Contractors.  In 2007 I was assigned to work in San Diego and Virginia was a tremendous help in introducing me to the community and passing along the deep rooted labor history of the employers and bargaining units. She was tireless advocate for working people and she will be missed.  I extend my prayers to you and family!
