Thomas “Tommy” Paul Manzano September 30, 1949 to December 4, 2011. Resident of El Cajon. After a courageous 6 month battle with cancer, Tommy passed away peacefully at his home in El Cajon, Ca. Tommy was born and raised in San Diego and graduated from San Diego High School. He held a position as a shipyard foreman for the Department of Defense before retiring last year.
He was one of seven children born to the late Macario R. and Angelina “Angie” Manzano. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Castillo-Manzano. Tommy will forever be remembered by his devoted and loving sisters and brother Sylvia, Linda, Yolanda, Sandra, Francesca and Frank, and his beloved children Angela, Tommy Jr., Cathy, Jesse, Shirley, Christina and his grandchildren along with countless other family members and friends that have been blessed to know him. Tommy loved being with his wife and family, entertaining, maintaining and caring for his garden and home, and especially celebrating life and the holidays with his loved ones.
Tommy touched the lives of many people with his smile, sense of humor and generosity. He maintained his trademark courage and strength to the end of his life. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing 4:00-6:30pm, Rosary 6:30-8:00pm on Thursday, December 8th at Clairemont Mortuary 4266 Mount Abernathy, San Diego, Ca. 92117. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 9th at 9:30am at the San Diego Mission de Alcala 10818 San Diego Mission Road, San Diego, Ca. Reception following mass at the Mission. In lieu of flowers donations to the Cancer Society.
