Shamily Arora was born in Skokie, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. When she was 1 year old her family moved to San Diego, California, where she grew up in the neighborhood of Tierrasanta. She attended grade school at St. Columba and high school at the University of San Diego High School. She attended college at UC Berkeley where she received a BA in Social Welfare. She returned to San Diego and began working at Qualcomm while she was deciding on her career choices. While working there she took a few culinary courses and then decided to go to culinary school full time. She attended California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. When she completed her culinary degree she returned to San Diego and did her internship at the Torreyana Grill at the Torrey Pines Hilton. Her first choice was to be a personal chef, so she established her own business.
After a number of years as a personal chef, she decided to change fields and began working in Human Resources for a pharmaceutical company, later for a bank, and finally for the San Diego Symphony.
Because she enjoyed cooking she also had several jobs in the restaurant industry and she loved to prepare foods for gatherings with family and friends.
Shamily was loving, kind, and compassionate. She had many friends who loved her, for she truly was a beautiful woman inside and out. She would always go out of her way to help anyone who was in need. Most of all, she loved her two daughters, Sadie and Stella.
Shamily is survived by her two daughters, Sadie and Stella, her parents, Krishna and Bonnie, her brothers, Rajiv (Lesley) and Rishi (Christina), and nephews Aidan, Liam, and Luke.
