Rudy Degracia, age 80, of San Diego, California passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Rudy was born in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. His parents are Fidel Degracia and Sebastiana Degracia.
Rudy grew up in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur and joined the U.S Army at 20 years old. He served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He retired from the Army as a Sergeant. He graduated from San Diego City College with a degree in Drafting where he then pursued a career as an Electrical Technician for Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) for 45 years where he retired with a grade of GS-12. Rudy lived a simple life, he enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables and enjoyed traveling back to Ilocos Sur to help his people.
Rudy was married to Estela Degracia and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. They have five sons, Rodney, Rodcliff, Rodstel, Rodrey, Rodjae, three daughter in laws, Ly, Stephanny, Natasha, and seven grandchildren, Marc, Ariana, Christopher, Ryan, Lana, Mai, Benjamin. Rudy also has a brother Danny and sister Rhoda.
He will be missed dearly.
A visitation for Rudy will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8200 Gold Coast Dr., San Diego, CA 92126. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Friday, September 15, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8200 Gold Coast Dr., San Diego, CA 92126. A committal service will occur Friday, September 15, 2023 from 1:15 PM to 2:00 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA 92122.
Serving as pallbearers are Rodney Degracia, Rodcliff Degracia, Rodstel Degracia, Rodrey Degracia, Rodjae Degracia, and Ryan Degracia.
