Romanette Ladawn Spencer was born November 4, 1960. She was the youngest of her 3 sisters by her loving mother Leaila Aquilla Richmond (who preceded her in death) and the oldest daughter of her father Ernest Minor. She was raised by her loving grandparents Richard and Gussie B Ashley in San Diego, California. She went to Crockett Elementary, Point Loma junior high and graduated from La Jolla High school class of “78.
She was a member of Bethel AME church and reunited with Prince Chapel. Upon graduating she started employment with Pacific Bell. She relocated to Los Angeles then went into traffic control. Upon returning to San Diego, she completed school and entered the medical field.
Romanette was a god-fearing woman, known for her loving and caring nature. She made sure to help others without judgement. She had a big heart, was generous and gave willingly. Upon many things she loved cooking, listening to her gospel, and getting away to the casino when time allowed. She was the best grandmother any child could have. Her presence and love were felt by all her grandchildren, children and friends alike.
Romanette is survived by her four children: Darris Spencer (deceased), Damone Ford, Danette Ford and Trumaine Ford. Her grandchildren Dajhon Crawford, Dajanay Calixte(deceased), Jayceon Calixte, Aiyana Lewis, Charmaine Ford, Sy Henry lll, and Chanel Ford. Her sisters Genora Jackson and Sharon Gonzalez as well as her many nieces and nephews, and her loving friends. She will forever be truly missed
