After a protracted battle with cancer, Robert Eugene Denny Jr. died on August 30, 2022, in San Diego, CA at the age of 63. Bob leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Aurora Denny; his daughter, Deidre; and his sons, Andrew, and Dennis.
Bob Jr. was born on April 22, 1959, in Madison, WI, to Father Robert Denny Sr. and Mother Shirley Jane Denny, who both deceased in 2020. He grew up in Aberdeen, South Dakota and Sioux Falls, South Dakota with his younger brother Michael Denny. Bob excelled in high school graduating Summa cum laude from Bishop O’Gorman Highschool. In college, he graduated again Summa cum laude from Augustana College with a degree in Chemistry in 1981. His goal to becoming a Physician with an acceptance into the University of Notre Dame Medical School was interrupted when he married the love of his life, Aurora Bravo, that led him into a Medical Underwriting Program with Midland National Life.
Bob married Aurora on August 28, 1981. Shortly after being accepted into his Medical Actuary Program, they resided in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where Bob had accepted a position as a Medical Underwriter for Midland National Life. There the couple lived and raised Deidre and Dennis until Bob was presented with a position at Prudential Life in Des Moines, Iowa. That is where Andrew, the youngest of the children was born and raised until he was offered another promotion with Prudential that led the family of five to Minneapolis, MN. The family would eventually settle in San Diego, CA where Bob would continue his successful career as a V.P. at CBIZ and as a Senior Life Insurance Underwriter for Symetra.
Bob was a driven professional and a wordsmith when it came to writing the most poetic messages into birthday cards from the heart. He was the #1 ambassador to the Green Bay Packers. His loyalty and passion for all things football and baseball was his enjoyment as a fan and lead him to coach his two boys throughout their lives. He would continue coaching in San Diego where he led and mentored hundreds of young men and taught them the game of football and many life lessons within the game. When diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer in 2009, he remained dedicated in his work and in his will to fight his disease. He remained a brave, iron-willed warrior, even throughout his final days.
Bob requested to be cremated. His ashes will be interred at the family plot in El Camino Memorial in San Diego. A. The family would especially like to thank the Doctors at UCSD for helping Bob fight this disease for more than a decade and to the excellent Nursing staff at UCSD Jacobs Medical Center for their constant, attentive treatment, and comfort. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Baldrick’s Foundation as Bob would be happy that everyone would help a child out to find a cure for cancer.
Bob was survived by his beautiful family that includes 8, soon to be 9 grandchildren.
Wife Aurora; Son’s Dennis (Stephanie, Garrison, Lola, Merric); Andrew (Kayla, Jett, Ariya, Rylee), Daughter Deidre (Ayden, Mason); Brother: Mike (Lisa, Josh)
