Marie Anne Cavanaugh

A funeral mass will be held at St. Didacus Catholic Church in San Diego on August 5, 2016 at 1 pm. The final commitment service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetary in San Diego at 3 pm.

Marie Anne was born in Walkerville, Montana to Mary Veronica and Joseph Anthony Actis on April 7, 1928. A good student, Marie Anne was musically inclined. She played in her high school marching band and was the organist for her Catholic Church. She enjoyed a variety of jobs. Her favorites included working for a car dealership in Montana and the 19 years she worked at the San Diego Convention Center as a Executive Secretary. Marie Anne loved opera, musicals and theatre shows.

She married Joseph Cavanaugh February 15, 1958 whom she meet through the Catholic singles group Revelers. Marie Anne loved being MOM to her three daughters, Marie, Patricia and Laura. She doted on her grandchildren Stephanie, Drake and Skye. During her retirement she enjoyed many summer vacations with her grandchildren.

Marie Anne is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Joseph, her husband Joseph Cavanaugh, her sister Irene Blake and her second child Patricia Irene Cavanaugh Gusman.

Masses for Marie Anne may be purchased at St. Didacus Church 4772 Felton Street San Diego, CA 92116 619-284-3472. Flowers may also be sent to the church for the services Friday.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Harbor Terrace Retirement Home of San Pedro. Marie enjoyed six years of independant living with them. Much gratitude goes to her care givers Jackie and Maria and the High Quality Hospice Care givers who attended to her during her final months.
