David Ellis Haynes was born to Phyllis and Vital Haynes in Los Angeles on August 9, 1953. He grew up in San Diego and was actively involved in many sports. He had an early interest in reading that developed into a passion for lifelong learning. He went to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for college and medical school. He did a surgery internship at University of California Irvine, followed by residency in Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He was an Emergency Medicine physician who worked in Yuma, Arizona for nearly 20 years. He was well-respected by his peers, nurses, staff, and patients.
Lissa was born Lissa Danelle Reeves to Daniel and Eloise Reeves on April 8, 1952 in Los Angeles. She attended Los Angeles City College for nursing school. Her family describes her as a bright spirit who was an excellent nurse because of her optimistic nature. She was an animal lover who supported The Humane Society, as well as an avid tennis player. David and Lissa met while working in the hospital. Everyone described them as a perfect match. They shared a passion for traveling, and frequently explored new countries together.
They are survived by a large family, including their two children, Kimberly and Peter. David’s surviving family includes his mother, Phyllis Haynes, and three siblings, Bruce, Kevin, and Karen. Lissa is survived by her mother Eloise Reeves and her brother Charles.
