Juanita “Aning” Blanco, 89, passed away peacefully in her home on Feb. 14, 2022, with family by her side. Born Dec 27, 1932, in Iba, Zambales, Philippines, she went on to graduate from college and become a grade-school teacher. Starting a new life here in San Diego in 1960, when she married Conrado, her husband of 50 years, they resided in Clairemont raising three sons – Christopher (deceased), Conrad, and James. Juanita worked at Diacon, then Indyme as an electronics assembler, retiring in 1993. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure’ Parish, a founding and active member of Botolan Association of Southern California and then the Botolan Circle of San Diego. She was also a member of the Iba Zambales Association of Southern California. She loved playing mahjong and card games with family and friends and enjoyed playing at the local casinos. She enjoyed sewing as well as cooking for family and friends, fond of puzzles like jumble and word search, and was an avid Padres fan. Juanita is survived by sons Conrad and James with daughter-in-law Shela, and grandchildren Kristin, Nick, and Nadine. One of nine siblings, she is also survived by her three remaining sisters: Natividad, Elena, and Gloria. She will be terribly missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.
A visitation for Aning will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Catherine Laboure, 4124 Mount Abraham Ave, San Diego, CA 92111. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121.
