The family would later move to California settling in Los Angeles where she received her formal and professional education as a Nurse. She worked diligently for Good Samaritan Hospital; she was faithful and committed to her job, where she retired. She enjoyed caring for others.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Mom Helen was a faithful member of Christian Center Church.
Helen was affectionately known as Mom Helen by family and friends. In her a pastime she loved to cook. She made the best peach cobbler and a delicious German chocolate cake which everyone loved.
On Wednesday morning October 2, 2013 Mom Helen made her transition from this life leaving many lessons to be taught and memories for us to savor.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Annie Mae and Clarence Callicoatte.
She is survived by brother, Ronnie Callicoatte (Doris) of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Linda Gail Carter of San Diego, CA; son, Gary Michael Ford (Peggy) of Oakley, CA; granddaughter, Crystal Ford of Los Angeles, CA; grandsons, Eden Carter Baker (Marlyn) of San Diego, CA, Paul Ford (Ashleigh) of Plumas Lake, CA, and Derek Ford (Lewam) of Hollywood, FL; thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that loved her dearly.
