George Michael Platis

George Michael Platis, 29, passed away on November 8, 2019, as a result of numerous and severe respiratory issues and congenital heart defects. He was born on February 10, 1990, in San Diego, California, the son of Maria and Michael Platis. He attended Hearst Elementary, Lewis Middle School, and Patrick Henry High School. He was a talented lacrosse player, an honor student, and a witty writer .He also served his church community in his youth as an altar boy and Sunday school teacher. George loved to Greek folk dance and was a dance team member for many years.

George worked in audio engineering, wrote copy for voice actors, and was one of the creators behind The Dirty Bits Podcast. He was a cinephile with a passion for horror films, an avid reader, and an accomplished clarinet player. George loved spending time with his family, going on road trips, the outdoors, visiting national parks, surfing, and playing with his beloved dog, Babbs. He was sweet, genuine, funny, and incredibly intelligent.

George is survived by his soulmate and wife, Tawny; his beloved parents Michael and Maria of San Diego, CA; his YiaYia Platis, and several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The Trisagion Service will be held at El Camino Mortuary (Sorrento Valley) on Thursday evening, November 14th at 7:00 pm. Visitation hours begin at 5:00 pm.

The Funeral Service will be held at Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church

on Friday morning, November 15th at 10:00am. The church is located at 3655 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92103

The Makaria will be in the Cypress Room at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church following the interment at the mortuary.
