It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Duvernay, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, who passed away on December 10, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on October 23, 1944, in Michigan, Gary was a man of immense strength, kindness, and resilience. He was known for his generous heart, positive spirit, and unwavering love for his family.
Gary proudly served in the U.S. Navy, a chapter of his life that shaped the disciplined, dedicated man he became. He faced life’s challenges with the same determination and courage that defined his time in service, always demonstrating an unbreakable will to persevere through adversity.
He was a devoted husband to Lorna, a loving father to his children Sabrina, Bobbi (Nate), Rex (Agatha), and Harrold (Debbie), and a beloved grandfather to Haley, Dillon, Rebecca, Heather, Benedict, and Kate. Gary was the anchor of his family, sharing a deep and loving bond with each member. He was always there to offer his support, wisdom, and a listening ear when needed. He also held a special place in his heart for his sister, Linda, with whom he shared countless memories.
Gary’s love for life was evident in everything he did. His hobbies, particularly caring for his fish (Pogi, Twinkle, and three others), brought him great joy and peace. He found solace in nurturing his aquatic friends, and his passion for this hobby mirrored the care and attention he gave to those he loved.
Those who knew Gary recognized him as a man of character—a man with a heart of gold who would go out of his way to help others. He made a lasting impression on all who met him with his warmth, generosity, and deep empathy.
Gary leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and love that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the epitome of strength and unwavering faith, and he truly touched the lives of those he loved.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family asks for prayers for Gary and his loved ones during this trying time.
