Mama,
Every day I cry because you aren't here with us. I miss you so very much. There are times in which I wonder how you would handle a situation or what words of wisdom you would share with me to guide me. You were so wise and smart. It took me being a mother for me to realize this. 

I thank God for having you as a mother and guiding me to be the person I am today. I've taken a page (or two) from your mother's book and have used it as a guide to raise Avelina and Brittany. You have and will be inspiration for me on how I mother them. I wish you were here to provide me answers because I don't always have them. The girls feel so fortunate to have been influenced by your love and care. They have cried so many tears and yearn for your hugs and kisses.

I will continue to make good choices and make you proud.

One of the things I remember about my abuela is that she was always making things... usually a knit blanket or sweater of some sort for the newest grandchild in the family. 
One year when my little brother Jon-marc was going to turn three or four, she volunteered to make his pinata. The day his birthday party rolled around it was done and when the time came to break it, no one could. Even the adults took turns hitting it but it barely cracked. Finally when they got it open wide enough to get the candy out, the candy (mostly hard candy) was in pieces; it had broken long before the pinata ever cracked. I don't think anyone let her make them one after that.

I don't know why God gave me the pleasure of being your daughter, but I thank him from the bottom of my heart. 

I also want to thank you mom for all your hard work and sacrifices you've made, and for all you've given, taught and shared. 

Thank you for…..

Teaching me to clean it right the first time.
Thank you for showing me how to make a bed correctly.

Thank you for teaching me that making meals with love makes them that much better. 
Thank you for teaching me how to tend to a garden. Your flowers were the prettiest in the neighborhood.
  
Thank you for loving me unconditionally even though in my teenage years I was not the easiest person to love. 
Thank you for passing along your love of family, faith and compassion.
And finally, thank you for teaching me how to be a better  woman, mom, and wife. Thank you for being the best “Nana” to my kids.
You were the greatest mom anybody could ever ask for. Say hello to Papi for me.  You may be gone but you will never be forgotten.  I love you so much.

Senora Guerrero was known to me only through her children, particularly Adriana and her girls, Avelina and Brittney and husband Luis. Through them, I know she was a woman of indomitable strength, with a huge heart and unending love for her family and her faith. God may have made her wait a bit longer, but I am absolutely certain He cherishes her.

Mom what can I say that you haven't heard before? You were simply the BEST mom anyone could ever ask for, although you had 14 children you managed to make everyone of us feel special. You taught me more than I could ever thank you for, I just hope that I can continue to be a good role model to my children as you were to all of us. I will, for the rest of my life miss and think of you everyday. Words could never express my gratitude on the guidance you provided for me. I love you mom, until we see each other again.

 I met the Guerreros when I was eight years old. I remember that even though there were fourteen Guerreros in the house there was always room and food for one more.  (Lucky me!) Senora would always ask if we were hungry and the answer of course would always be "Si." Then we'd enjoy (real, not out of a can) frijoles, tortillas and carne. It has been years since 40th street but looking back I feel that she was content and proud of her family. She would sit in the living room watching novelas or crocheting but she always knew what was going on.  She had a quiet dignity and she always did what was right and fair.  Always loving and devoted to her family and accepting of the "extra friends" they found along the way, she was loved and will be missed greatly!  She leaves such an amazing legacy in the beautiful family she raised. Que Dios bendiga la familia Guerrero siempre.  Gracias por permitir que esta Chinita a ser parte de su familia. Senora, andale pues, ok, bye, bye!  Nos vemos en el Cielo.

I've been an honorary "Guerrero" since I was 9. From the age of 9 til approx 14, I couldn't speak a lick of Spanish, so I rarely spoke to Senora Guerrero. Finally in high school, I took Spanish & became pretty good at it. One day, feeling very proud of myself, I approached Senora, intending to say, "I'm embarrassed I couldn't speak Spanish to you before now." Using my best Spanish accent, I said, "Senora, estoy embarazada no podía hablar español antes." Senora gives me a surprised look, sits down in a chair, and starts laughing harder than I'd ever seen her laugh! I mean, just about doubled over laughing! Confused, I find Luis & tell him what I said to his Mom. He chuckles and says, "Hey, you just told my mom you're PREGNANT!" I can still hear her laughter in my head.

We remember a beautiful and gracious lady who gave so much love to her family and friends. Our family shares in your loss and sends our heartfelt condolences to your family.

Emilia was a woman of strong will and a wonderfull character.  Many of those characteristics live on in her children.  I feel fortunate to have experience her love and to know the beautiful family she raised.

Though the days ahead will be hard, know that soon you'll be remembering all the good times you had and that one day, you'll see your mom again.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you endure this very difficult time.  We love you.

Our heartfelt condolences for the loss of your precious mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She truly was a special lady. Just seeing your family at get togethers and how your were all there taking care of her, making sure she was comfortable, one could see the love you all had for her.  God bless you all.
