Edward Jonas Budreika passed away on March 26, 2022 in San Diego, CA, age 68, after a long battle with Cancer. He was a longtime resident of San Diego, CA.
Edward Jonas Budreika was born in Boston, MA, the son of Ronald (Engineer) and Jane (Chemist/Pharmacist/Teacher) Budreika, on July 13, 1953.
He received a Bachelor's Degree from Harvard University, in Biology. With his parents and two brothers, Raymond and Tom, Ed enjoyed tent camping, snow skiing, and traveling. He was active in the Lithuanian Community and played the violin. As an athlete, Ed loved to run four miles, sunbathe and jacuzzi, and worked as a lifeguard some summers!
As a Lieutenant with the US Navy, Ed served for eight years. He flew turbo prop planes in Florida, sailed around the world on the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier, and eventually was stationed on Coronado, CA.
While attending a Folk Dance Festival in Los Angeles, he met Angela Michiulis, and was soon engaged. They were married in 1985 and lived together in San Diego, CA for 36 years. They had two daughters: Veronika, who graduated Cosmetology College and received a License, and Zara, who is attending a University -studying Business and Marketing.
Edward was very interested in Natural Health. At one time, he considered becoming a medical doctor, especially after taking special courses at Harvard Medical School, working in a lab and an emergency room in Boston. Later, he researched, studied and implemented many various natural or alternative health practices, which he incorporated into his daily life.
Business Opportunities and Marketing intrigued Ed. Ed and Angela successfully build an Amway Business for twenty years;a Stemtech network for 9 years (they opened up Lithuania for this company); and Cerule International-featuring Klamath Lake Algae Supplements, through the Internet, and with many Distributors, living in Europe and Chicago, for over 5 years.
As a professional Salesman for over 30 years, Ed worked primarily in Financial Services, obtaining many licenses. To clients, he sold mortgages, various life insurances, automobiles, screen printing and frozen yogurt machines. He looked and found investors for various Venture Capital Projects, including: films, shipwreck recovery and a patented "green energy" device. Some of the companies and projects were successful, some were not; others still remain undeveloped. Ed was a talented and intelligent man, and easily grasped difficult and complicated concepts. He loved talking on the phone, and kept in touch with many people, often, over many years time.
Ed loved to travel with Angela and their children. They often loved to go to their "happy place," a small town called Union Pier, in MI, near Chicago, to a summer resort on Lake Michigan. Time there included: beach time, blueberry picking, exploring other small towns, eating fresh produce from the Farmer's Market and campfires on the beach, which Ed expertly set up.
Other places they all visited were Lithuania, and some countries in Europe, and most recently, towns in California, such as: Palm Springs, Central Coast, Big Bear and Julian, in the mountains.
Ed is survived by his wife, Angela Budreika, and his youngest daughter Zara Budreika.
His oldest daughter, Veronika Budreika, passed away the previous year.
A Funeral Mass will be held on July 10, 2022 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Los Angeles at 11 am, and on July 12, 2022, Edward Budreika will be buried with Military Honors, at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA .
