Corinne Chuan Lin Huang Wu was born on June 9, 1942 in Fujian China to Ping Shin Huang and Shu Cheng Chen Huang. She was the eldest of 7 children with 4 sisters and 2 brothers. The family emigrated to Taiwan soon after World War II. Corinne studied English at Christ’s College in Taipei and graduated in 1964. She then came to New York to intern at AIG in 1966 and pursue graduate studies.
Through mutual friends, Corinne was introduced to Alfred and they began a long distance courtship between New York and Michigan. Corinne and Alfred were married on July 22, 1967 in Manhattan, New York and settled in Ypsilanti, Michigan. They had two daughters and after their younger daughter started preschool, Corinne went back to school and pursued a degree in computer programming. She worked for the University of Michigan’s Hospitals as a Senior Systems Manager for 20 years. She was active at church, teaching and serving in the children’s ministry at Huron Hills Baptist Church in Ann Arbor, MI. She also taught Chinese school, enjoyed creating flower arrangements, cooking and Chinese brush painting.
Upon retirement, Alfred & Corinne relocated to San Diego in 2002 to be closer to their grandchildren. Corinne was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in 2005. She passed peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2019 at 2:49 am due to complications from Advanced Alzheimer’s and Stage 4 colon cancer. She is preceded in death by her husband Alfred and her father Ping Shin Huang and survived by her mother Shu Cheng Chen Huang and siblings June Chern, Gary Huang, Jane Kao, Linda Ma, Margaret Huang and Jeffrey Huang as well as her daughters Veda (son-in-law Bill Lin) and Yvette and granddaughters Katie Lin and Emily Lin.
A viewing will be held at El Camino Memorial on Friday November 15, 2019 from 4-8 pm and Memorial Services will be held on Saturday November 16, 2019 at 10:30 am
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Corinne Wu to the Building Fund at Chinese Bible Church-San Diego or the Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the University of California, San Diego at adrc.ucsd.edu (Fund #1028).
