About Anthony:
Anthony Binh Thanh Pham was born in Bien Hoa, Vietnam on August 20th, 1974. He passed away at his home on December 25, 2022 at 48 years old. He leaves behind his parents, five sisters, a brother, and an army of nephews and nieces who adored him.
Anthony was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He came to the US in 1982 at just 8 years old. It was a long, difficult journey to America. He escaped Vietnam on a small fishing boat with his older sisters, Nancy and Christine, and his younger sister, Kim. After a harrowing voyage, they made it to Malaysia and were transferred to Pulau Bidong refugee camp. The siblings arrived in San Diego where they worked hard to support each other and build a new life in a foreign land. They spent many years happily living together. Even after moving out, they all remained very close, often living within easy driving distance of one another.
Anthony graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Biochemistry in 1997. He spent his career as an accountant at companies like ProFlowers and, most recently, Poseidon Water.
He had an incredibly artistic spirit and pursued many creative hobbies. Anthony surfed, cooked, painted, decorated his home, and even self-published a book. He was usually in charge of setting up family photo shoots, and even had a makeshift studio in his home. At family events, he was always the one with a camera, documenting some of our happiest moments.
That was the role Anthony played in our family – his compassionate, easygoing spirit was a calming presence in a chaotic sea of family whenever the seven siblings and their families all got together. It could be the result of being the child born smack dab in the middle, his three older sisters on one side and his 2 younger sisters and little brother on the other.
Anthony held a treasured “favorite uncle status” among many of his nieces and nephews. Many describe him as very kind and exceedingly generous, showering them with endless food and gifts. For his nieces, Uncle Binh was often the first person in their lives to ever send them flowers.
He had a very sweet and easy way about him, which helped him connect with his many nieces and nephews, always happy to give them his undivided attention, take their words seriously and give thoughtful advice.
Though Anthony never married or had children of his own, he was well-loved by his big family and a fixture in all of our lives. It won’t be the same without him but we will all continue to love him and miss him every day. We are forever grateful to have had Anthony in our lives.
