Dear Susan, Jeff and Kit,
I wish I had a photo to share, but my phone stopped working 3 years ago with all my photos of Annie.
She will always live in my heart, however. I knew her all her life and she grew into such a beautiful young lady, inside and out. Fun and intelligent and full of life, it is so hard to believe that she is gone. She is the embodiment of the saying "only the good die young." She grew into such a wonderful woman and will be missed by everyone who had the good fortune to have known her.
I have so many happy memories of Annie, but one that sticks out to me was when she was a little girl and I was visiting Susan and Jeff, I took her to LEGOLAND with another friend of mine and her children.  There were no cellphones then, and I wanted to use a payphone to call Jeff and Susan, but my friend said, "don't worry, they know where you are." We got home WAY past dark, and Susan and Jeff were indeed worried, but, we had a lot of fun that day and everyday that I spent with her are now treasured memories.  
My heart goes out to her fantastic family and all those who knew Annie, as she touched so many people's lives in the best ways.

Many of our Families with Children from China friends remember Annie from our many events.  Two I remember were an ice skating/birthday party at the Joan Kroc center in 2006, with Annie in the center of one of the many group photos we always took!  

Another memory I have is of Annie’s artistic talent.  Each year for Chinese New Year, our FCC kids would draw the animal of that year.  2008 was a very special year as it was the first anniversary for our boys and girls born in 1996 and early 1997 of the Year of the Rat, which happens every 12 years.   Even at 12, Annie’s gray “rat” stood out as one of the loveliest gracing the program cover, and her mom Susan made the event a success.  

We love you Annie,  and treasure our memories. 


I have been picturing a particular spot at Kit Carson Park, well away from the starting line, where I found a place in the shade to watch the cross-country runners go by during one of my younger daughter's meets.  Annie was there with her school's team, and I can still see her running toward and past me--no one was around her at the particular time, and I am not sure she knew who I was in the moment but I knew her and loudly cheered her on, for sure! She was a beautiful runner.  She was well ahead of my daughter so it would be awhile before I left that spot :-).   I am so glad I got that glimpse of Annie doing her sport.  Semb family, we love you and my heart aches. We share a love of the redwoods and big trees. May you find strength in them. Love, The Millers

I haven't known Annie for very long but I had so much fun working with her at UCI - and she's definitely one of my favorite people I've stayed in contact with. I am so grateful that we became friends and that she shared parts of her life with me. Her family is so important to her and she shared sweet things about her loved ones. Especially within the past year she was so happy to spend time with her family - on walks with her dad every night and a birthday trip with her parents and her sister. She was really happy that her sister came for her birthday, and that her mom was able to find a dog sitter. I also thought it was the sweetest that she felt so proud and happy to be similar to her mom in personality. She told me that her connection in that way to her mom was really cool, which I find really touching. She shared that she was grateful to have a special someone by her side to love all things marvel and cute sumi characters (especially tokage) - but most important of all, someone who supported and was with her through tough times. There is no doubt that she is very much loved and she, herself has loved with her whole heart. For me who has only know Annie for a short time, I cannot begin to imagine how precious she must be to her closest friends/family. I will miss her so much and will continue to keep Annie and her close ones in my prayers. I'm always wishing the best for you, Annie!

I've had the wonderful pleasure of befriending Annie during our first year at UCI. Although I had initially met her through a mutual friend, we both learned that we had the same major and pretty much saw each other almost every day within our friend group. Annie was one of the most genuine, down to earth, and nicest people I've known throughout my lifetime. I've enjoyed talking to her about just about anything but we especially shared a love for Taylor Swift and we always messaged each other about any new songs and album drops. I'm so grateful to have gotten to befriend someone like Annie. Thank you for all of the memories ♡

We have wonderful fun history   and will be forever be in each other's lives and hearts.
She & her family have always been in my life and forever will be.
Annie is our angel now.

A gift from God to a loving family who was called back home to our Lord too soon...Im sure she's smiling down from Heaven waiting until you all meet again.

I met Annie through cross country and track in Mira Mesa Highschool. She was a great runner. I was always inspired by her determination and character. And she would run with me whenever I was alone. Always greeted me with a smile and kindness. I’m happy I had Annie in my life 🙂 And will never forget the memories I had with her. Rest easy Annie. Kento Reynolds

Hi Annie and family. This is a photo of when we went to cross country camp together in high school. I am on the far left. Naomi and I went camping the weekend of April1st 2022 and were thinking about you because the last time we went camping about 10 years ago we were in the tent together. You're an amazingly smart, kind girl. We love you.
