Anna Marie Fobes, known to her friends and loved ones as Ann, peacefully passed away on July 28, 2023, at the age of 97 in Carlsbad, California. Born in Villisca, Iowa, Ann was the daughter of the late Oscar and Cornelia “Daisy” Webber. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clark D. Fobes, MD, and her brother, Hubert Webber of Crystal Lake, IL.
Ann is survived by her children, Clark W. Fobes of San Francisco, David Fobes (Rocio Weiss) of San Diego, Steven Fobes of San Diego, Kathy (Mark) Howard of Puyallup, WA, Cheryl (Steve) Blizin of Calabasas, CA, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Webber of Omaha, Nebraska.
Ann attended The University of Nebraska in Omaha where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Art in 1949. She met her future husband Clark D. Fobes while studying at the University. Even as a busy mother she managed to pursue her love of art and develop her talents in ceramic pottery, jewelry, and metalsmithing as well as painting and drawing.
Dr. and Mrs. Fobes raised their five children in Redlands, CA before moving to Del Mar in the 1980s. Ann was a homemaker and dedicated community and church volunteer. She found joy in serving others and was actively involved in various charitable endeavors. In her spiritual life, Ann found solace and community at the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Stephens Minister, helping to provide care and support to those in need. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and compassion that will continue to inspire all those who knew her.
A ceremony to celebrate Ann's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church.
