She married her high school sweetheart John Callahan who preceded her in death. She worked as a certified medical records technician at Sara Bush Lincoln hospital in Mattoon, Il for 35 years. After retiring, she moved to San Diego. She met and married Max Wheelock who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She attended bible study and finished the course by attending weekly classes for 7 years.
One of her favorite pass times was studying genealogy which she did extensively. Her other activities included dancing with the Twirler club, ballroom dancing, and she participated in the San Diego crafters miniature club making intricate miniature dollhouse scenes.
Her greatest passion was her family. She dearly loved grandchildren and great grandchildren who always called her affectionately Granny.
She leaves behind her son John Callahan and wife Lynn, Daughter Diann Harper and her husband Jack, Jane Morlin and her husband Steve and Jean Callahan and Elaine Hofmeister, 8 adored grandchildren and 12 cherished great grandchildren.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Mission Valley, San Diego, CA on November 10th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to San Diego, County Chihuahua rescue or the First United Methodist church.
