Angie Mauricio, 91 of Point Loma joined the love of her life Adrian on June 21, 2013. Angie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Tony Calabrese, Angela and David Virissimo; five grandchildren, Anthony, A.J., David, Maurenna and Alyssa; and three great-grandchildren, Alex, John and Angelina; and her sister, Rita Ballatore .
Angie devoted her life to the Portuguesse Community in Point Loma, belonging to several Portuguese civic and fraternal organizations. She was the U.P.P.E.C. Grand President 1978-79 and named UPPEC Fraternalist of the Year in 2000. She was a 50+ year member of the St. Agnes Choir. She was a member of the United Portuguese S.E.S., Inc. Board of Directors and a lifetime volunteer at the Hall and UPSES Festa, where she reigned as Queen in 1948.
Angie worked at the Robert F. Driver Co., Inc. for 32 years as their Surety Bond Manager. She held the distinction of being the Company’s first female Vice President and member of their Board of Directors. She was a 20 year member of San Diego Insurance Women and in 1988 she was honored as Insurance Woman of Year. She was a member and served as President of San Diego Surety Association and was a YWCA TWIN Honoree in 1981.
A Rosary Mass will be held on Wed., June 26th at 9:30 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1140 Evergreen Street, Point Loma. Interment will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cabrillo Civic Club Memorial Scholarships or United Portuguese S.E.S., Inc. Memorial Scholarships.
