Allison was born and raised in Anaheim, California. She attended Loara High School in Anaheim and Point Loma Nazarene College in San Diego. After college, she worked at Scripps Bank before spending more than a decade as a Starbucks barista and store manager. She loved getting to know her customers there and also met her best friend and husband, Drew, while working at the Pacific Beach location. Since 2009, Allison had worked at Costco as a merchandiser. She loved her coworkers and enjoyed working early in the mornings, so she could be with her daughters for the rest of the day.
Allison and Drew married in March 2010 and had two beautiful daughters, Paisley and Piper. What Allison loved most of all was spending time with her family, including long walks, usually along the bay or beach in Mission Beach or in Little Italy, downtown. She and Drew grew closer together as friends during such walks and eventually as husband and wife. As a former Disney cast member at the Gibson Girl Cafe, she was a devoted Disney fan who helped many friends and family plan their trips. She and her dad were proud Dodgers fans in Padres territory, and made many trips to Dodger stadium with her sister, Stacey to watch their team.
Allison also loved bargain-hunting and was always eager to find good deals, especially after holidays. If anyone in her family needed something, she could usually find it on clearance and stack some coupons on top of that. She was always excited to find someone exactly what they needed, or to donate deals to her favorite charity when they needed shampoo, soap or other items for those in need.
She was a devoted aunt and mom, and one of her favorite things was watching Piper and Paisley play with their cousins at family gatherings and holidays.
Allison was diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer in 2019. Throughout her treatment, she was focused on making memories with her family. She traveled to watch her nieces' softball games and planned trips for her girls to Disney World in Florida, Palm Desert, Hawaii and baseball spring training in Arizona.
Despite the challenges she was facing, she strived to stay positive and upbeat. Even during her chemo treatment, she made friends with the nurses in the infusion center and became close to her oncologist, Dr. Jennifer Fisher. She always took an interest in other people and made many friends no matter where she was, whether at school, work, church or the kids' school.
Allison is survived by her husband of 12 years, Drew; daughters, Paisley (9) and Piper (6); parents, Gerald and Linda Schubert; sisters Jennifer Sturak (Craig) and Stacey Menzies (Jason); and nephews and nieces Ian, Claudia and Phoebe Sturak.
The family plans to hold a memorial service for Allison at 1 p.m. on January 14, 2023, at San Diego First Church of the Nazarene, 3901 Lomaland Drive in Point Loma. All are welcome.
The family would appreciate you sharing any memories of Allison, so that they can be saved for her daughters.
