Jose was a man that enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed mud racing and anything to do with hot rods. They always caught his attention. He was also a little league coach and an announcer for baseball and football. He was a very giving and loving person and made friends everywhere he went. He was known as "Grandpa" to everyone he met, family or not.
Jose was a loving husband, father, and grandpa to all the children in his life. He will be truly missed by all of his family and friends. He will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.
Jose is survived by his wife, Adela P. Vitela; his sons, Jose Luis Vitela Jr. (Mari), Edward Vitela, and Francisco Javier Vitela; his daughter, Maria Elena Rocha; his brothers, Alfredo Vitela, Jorge Vitela, and his sister Carmen Vitela; his 14 Grandchildren, and 15 Great Grandchildren.
Jose was preceded in death by his father, Mariano Vitela and his mother Maria De La Luz Vitela; his sister Aurora "Lola" Garcia; his sister, Anna Gaona; his sister, Teresa Gonzales, and his sister Rosie Meidel who will all be waiting at the gates of heaven because heaven just received a new angel.
A Visitation for Jose will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, Texas 78586 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Chapel Funeral Service will take place on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, Texas 78586.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Javier Abundez, Joshua Vitela, Arturo Cariaga, Dion Sosa, Ruben Rocha, III, and Charlie Vitela. Honorary Pallbearers are Jose Luis Vitela, Jr., Edward Vitela, Francisco J. Vitela, and Ernesto Perrill.
