Yvonne was born on August 16, 1947 one of four daughters born to Refugia and Julio Vela. She was a natural leader and generous soul whose warmth and accepting nature earned her many friends and admirers. She excelled on the drill team at Burbank High School and continued her love and talent for dance throughout her life performing and competing professionally. She was the president of her college social club when she met her first husband, Rudy Moreno. They were married for 20 years and had four daughters. After Rudy’s untimely death, Yvonne eventually found love again and married Macario Guzman. Always a pioneer and entrepreneur, Yvonne was one of Bexar Appraisal Districts first female appraisers. She went on to found her own company, Vel-More Realty. A child of the 1960s, Yvonne was a proud Latina and champion of women’s, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA rights. She was a fierce and loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend. We will miss her terribly but her fun and indomitable spirit lives on. She is survived by her husband Macario Guzman; her daughters: Nevia Gonzales, Robyn Moreno, Yvette Moreno, and Bianca Moreno; her sisters: Sally De La Peza, Belinda Chiros, and Loretta Davis; and her beloved grandchildren: Zachary Moreno, Javin Moreno Ornelas, Olive Moreno Allebrand, and Freja Moreno Allebrand.
