Fought the good fight until February 10, 2021 when he peacefully passed away at the age of 73 in San Antonio, Texas
William, was born September 8,1947 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. To the late William Taylor sr and Erma Mae Wright Taylor. He was the third child born to this union. At an early age William joined Pine Grove Baptist church.
William, received his education in the Gibsland, Louisiana area. Graduating from Gibsland Coleman in 1965. Two weeks after high school, William joined the United States Air Force. Attending basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. Places William was stationed were: Vandenberg AFB, California,
Barksdale AFB, Shreveport, Louisiana
Went to Vietnam war twice,
Lindsey Air-station Wiesbaden, Germany, and
Kelly Air Base AFB San Antonio, Texas
After 20 yr of the military William, Honorably retired and worked another 23 yr of civil service at 690 ALIS Lackland AFB Kelly annex.
William, was awarded the following: Meritorious service medal, Air Force commendation medal, Air Force good conduct medal w/5 Oak leaf cluster, Air Force longevity service award ribbon w/4 Oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service medal, Small arms expert marksmanship ribbon, Vietnam service medal w/4 bronze stars, Air Force outstanding unit award w/1 Oak leaf cluster, Republic of Vietnam campaign medal.
In 1970, William found and married the love of his life, Mackcele Washington. To this union, two children were born; William (Pooh) and Keith.
William was a hands on parent, not to just his own But w/ all whom he came in contact with him. Filling his children lives with love, life lessons and laughter. William possessed a contagiously out going spirit and was loved by all that met him. He was called: Mr. T, Mr. Taylor, Tug, Unc, Dad and papa. William was a avid Dallas cowboy (football) Lakers ( basketball) fan. He loved to watch the games with his boys, Pooh and Keith.
William, favorite singers: The Spinners “I’ll be around “, Johnnie Taylor “One in a million “ and Marvin Gaye “What’s going on”. William favorite color was tan. His favorite quote “ Life’s a B then ya die” His favorite quote to Mackcele “ You and me”. His favorite quote to his boys “ stick together no matter what”. His favorite quote to his grandchildren “ I always got your back, don’t be no fool”. His favorite quote to family and others “act like you got some sense”.
William, was preceded in death by his parents William Sr. and Erma Taylor, his siblings Robert Taylor and Ruby Dean Taylor.
William, leaves to cherish his memories his loving devoted wife of 51 yr Mackcele Washington Taylor. Williams legacy will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. William jr III (Pooh) -Karen, Keith (Laura). 11 Grand children and 7 Great-grandchildren and a daughter Chiquita Stroman. His loving sister Arlillian Taylor Rushing. His last living uncle & aunt Herbert Taylor jr (Janice). Vernadia Taylor Smith ( Ezell), sister in law Thelma Taylor(Robert ). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, the Washington family. special friends Ret. CMSGT Ollie B. Thomas ( Florida) and Sandy Wesley.
