Wayne Allan Zachman, (Ret. Msgt. USAF) loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018. Wayne was born to Dr. Walter M. and Harriet (Hansen) Zachman on January 19, 1937 in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jean (Mrs. Richard Salk), Harvey, Ralph, Carol, (Mrs. LaVern Theilman). He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rachel (Avila) Zachman; sons, Gary Relic and Daniel Relic; granddaughter, Lauren Relic; sisters, Marilee Cripe, Joanne Johnson, Darnell (Mrs. Gary Glein); Sister-in-law, Guadalupe Sandoval and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces an nephews. Wayne enjoyed life to the fullest and always had a smile and a story for everyone. Wayne, Joanne, and Darnell were known as "the 3 little kids" in the Zachman family, in good times or bad. They spent time picking hazel nuts, catching poly wogs, (immature frogs) going to movies, skating, bob sledding, picking potato bugs, shelling peas, snipping beans, raking a huge yard, shoveling snow and watching the sky and cloud formations. He also loved playing with the cats and kittens. "Arky" was a good brother and was loved by the Zachman family. He was a veteran of the Air Force and proudly served his country for 23 years in active service. He spent another 24 years in civil service. He retired to San Antonio, TX, and his greatest enjoyment was driving his wife and granddaughter wherever they wanted to go. He was a devoted Spurs fan and was able to attend a game last season and watch his granddaughter perform at halftime. The family will receive guests at 12:00pm on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, with A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00pm.
