Wayman Dare Marshall was born in Panola County, TX on December 9, 1931 to Trescenden Dare and Vera (Wedgewood) Marshall. He passed away on July 16, 2012 at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, William Allen Marshall. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Joyce Ramsey Marshell; daughter, Lea Ann Wilson and husband, James; sons, Tracy Marshall and Dan Marshall and wife, Denise;seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and his brother, William Worth Marshall and his wife, Peggy. After serving in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served as Director of Plant and Maintenance for N.E.I.S.D. for 25 years. Prior to that he was employed as a mechanical engineer for Air Training Command and Lone Star Gas. He was a Godly Christian man that trained his family in the way of the Lord. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1963 and served as an active Deacon for 50 years. He was instrumental in starting churches, working with children and teaching adult Sunday school classes. He was an outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt with his family, which was exemplified by the fact that for 25 years the highlight of his activities included a weeklong stay with his entire family in Port Aransas, fishing, boating, swimming, having church on the beach or attending church at First Baptist Church Port Aransas, just spending quality time together. As a hobby he raised and raced homing pigeons. He was active in the community through the YMCA, by both coaching the boys basketball teams. He was a very benevolent man to many people in addition to his own family. His life philosophy was lived everyday by a simple priority: God-first (Always); Family second; and very seldom himself. God and unconditional love was the motivation behind his actions and life. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home.
