He is survived by his wife Sylvia Lara, his children, Herve Lara (Suzanne), Richard Lara, daughters-in-law, Diane Anctil, Alyce Lara Nooner and Julie Woods; grandchildren, Catherine, Michelle, Nicole, Brian, Alyson, Samantha, Sean; also numerous great grandchildren. He also has a large extended family in Austin Texas and throughout the United States, and lifelong close friends.
He proudly served his Nation as a 22-year veteran of the US Air Force and US. Army (Ranger) having served in Viet Nam. In his second 20-year career at the City of San Antonio he was a strong promoter for social equity as the Senior Economic Development Specialist enabling the Small Minority and Women Owned Business Advocacy, a position in which he excelled in building community diversity throughout San Antonio.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 3pm at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 2pm. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 11:30am with full military Honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
