Thomas H. Marsh, 91, completed his earthly journey of love and service on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at home in San Antonio, Texas. Tom was born in Abington, Pennsylvania on October 1, 1933, as the third of six siblings. He joined the Marine Corps, serving our country in the Korea and Vietnam Wars, earning a Purple Heart for Wounds Received in Action in Korea on October 27, 1952. Tom continued to serve for 20+ years.
Meeting and marrying his wife, Asenath (Liz) Zofchak, on August 12, 1966, Tom was a devoted husband through their 52-year marriage, until Liz’s passing in 2019. Beyond Tom’s military career, he worked for Pacific Telephone / AT&T in Fountain Valley, California, until his second retirement in 1994. Moving to Daytona Beach, Florida, Tom and Liz enjoyed a 24-year retirement, where they delivered Meals on Wheels, volunteered at the Blind Library, and were able to enjoy the fruits or their labor with golfing, frequent cruises and road-trips across the US, and visiting their kids and grandkids in central Texas on a regular basis. Tom was always looking for ways to serve and support others.
He is survived by daughter, Amanda (and husband Tim) O’Krongley; son, Thomas Marsh; grandsons, Hunter Edward O’Krongley and Tyler Marsh O’Krongley. Tom is also survived by his younger siblings Warren Marsh, Beverly Coshin and Cheryl Williams (and husband John), and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Tom is preceded in death by his parents (Samuel and Violet Marsh), older siblings Elaine Bricker, Gladys Weinczek.
A rosary for Thomas will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8134 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, TX 78216, followed by a funeral mass from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Tom will be interned at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, with full Military Honors on January 9, 2025.
