Stella Muniz Sanchez, also known as “Blanca,” was called to the Lord on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the age of 94. She was born on July 25, 1929, in San Antonio, Texas to Pedro and Blanca Estela DeHoyos Muniz. She lived on Kenrick Street, and then Rivas Street in the west side of San Antonio with her nine siblings, Manuel, Jesse, Lupita, Miguel, Pedro, Ricardo, Juan, and Cecilia.
Stella married Jose Mata Sanchez and had five children. She worked in the food industry, as a soda fountain server in a pharmacy, at the original Pearl Brewery serving sandwiches, at the HEB bakery, and for the last part of her working life at a cafeteria serving employees at Bell Telephone on St. Mary’s Street. There she made longtime friends with her customers, and coworkers that lasted throughout her life.
Stella was part of the St. Patrick’s Church and donated to the Special Olympics and the Veterans Fund. Her passion was spending time with her family, in San Antonio and beyond. She loved listening to music, Christian, popular, and Mexican music. She enjoyed reading and dancing with her family.
Friends, neighbors, and family will always remember the days where she and Freddy would run errands and travel together. They were intertwined in their day to day lives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe M. Sanchez; daughter, Rosario Maria Cardenas; parents, Pedro G. Muniz, and Blanca Estela DeHoyos sister Cecilia Gutierrez, and brothers Manuel Muniz, Jesse Muniz and Pedro Muniz.
She is survived by her daughters, Maria A. Martinez, Marta Sanchez- Dallam; sons, Joe Michael Sanchez, Fredrick Sanchez; grandchildren, Roxanne Michelle Kostuck, Richard Matthew Martinez, Juan Carlos Cardenas, Marco Antonio Cardenas, Joe M. Sanchez Jr., Phillip Ignacio Dallam; great grandchildren, Joe Michael Jr., Eric Esquivel, Isabel Mercedes Cardenas, Elena Luisa Cardenas, Marissa Anahi Cardenas, Cristian León Cardenas, Kingston Rafael Kostuck.
