Stefanie Christine Hunt passed away peacefully on June 12, 2014 after a courageous 2-year battle with colon cancer, with her family by her side. Stefanie was born on May 24, 1978 in Springfield, IL to Gary D. and V. Sue (Elliott) Hunt. Stefanie was 4 years old when the family moved to San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1996 and then she received her Bachelor's Degree from Southwest Texas State in 2000. At the time of her cancer diagnosis, Stefanie was a flight attendant for Xtra Airways. Before that she had been employed in the insurance industry as well as many temporary jobs.
Stefanie is survived by her parents, Gary and Sue Hunt; brother, Jason Hunt and his wife Aimee; her 2 nephews, Dakota and Kaes Hunt; uncles, John Elliott and Kevin Hunt; step-grandmother, Marjorie Hunt; numerous cousins; her beloved cat, Teddy; as well as a wonderful group of friends she has known since childhood. Stefanie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cleon "Buck" and Minnie Elliott; and Loren and Bernice Hunt.
Stefanie loved to travel and was always eager to take a trip. She was a lover of all animals but cats were her favorite of all 4-legged creatures. She was a firm believer of animal rescue groups and through the years rescued cats that way. She also firmly believed that every able-bodied person should be an organ donor and a regular blood donor. Her favorite place to be was living in Washington State near her cousin, dubbed "frousin" Debbie Amundson. Stefanie was fortunate to be able to live near Debbie for 3 years, and it was probably the happiest time of her life. The family would like to thank Dr. James Wilder and staff, Dr. Vijay Gunuganti and all the staff at Cancer Care Center of South Texas as well as Maureen Mortensen with Heartland Hospice.
