A care taker of all of God’s creations was welcomed in his arms on the 8th of June, 2011. Ruth Beaumont Dillard went to be with her parents and her beloved Sista and Tom on this day. The world has lost a truly good soul, and Heaven rejoices. Ruth’s mind and body have been greatly challenged for the last several years but her smile and classy character could still bring joy and a smile to her family and care takers alike. Ruthie, as she was known to her friends, was born on June 10th, 1919. Although she was loved by, and equally loved her parents, A.D. and Hester Beaumont and two siblings, Aubery and Audrey, she went to live with her Aunt Salome and Uncle Tom Stevens in Coleman, Texas as an adolescent. Living in the wide open country of Coleman, she was able to live the life of the Tom-boy that she was. Ruth was far more comfortable on the back of an unsaddled horse than back at the house baking a pie. Make no mistake; she was a wonderful cook, but a better horsewoman. Over the years she raised many who loved her, some very lucky animals and husbands as well, including my Grandfather.
Always the perfect hostess, step-mom, gardener and ambassador, she was the consummate Grandma. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her family that raised her. She leaves behind many family members including loving in-laws, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who if they truly knew her, will never forget her grace under challenge and her love for animals. We miss her, but find comfort, in her found comfort.
Her energy will run forever through all that knew her. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Her body will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers Ruth would want you to contribute to The Animal Defense League of Texas, 11300 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio 78217-2318 / [email protected].
