Ruth was known for her warm, sweet, loving spirit and touched many lives during her 100 years of life.Ruth was valedictorian of her high school class, she worked as a stenographer at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and she taught dance lessons at Arthur Murray dance studio during the 1940’s.
She met her husband, Major Richard Ball at Ft.Sam Houston army base where she worked in San Antonio, TX .He made excuses just to see her until he won her over. She was a charter member and long-standing member of Crestview Baptist Church in San Antonio and her faith in God was well known. Ruth loved her family dearly.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her beloved children, Deborah Ball, Sharon Biek and her husband Brian Biek and their two children Allison Biek and Gavin Biek, Cheryl Cox and her husband Steven Cox and their children, Jennifer Hobgood,Christopher Hobgood and his wife Emilee Hobgood, Brittney Cox, Ryleigh Cox, Brian Cox as well as Ruth’s nieces and nephews and their families.
She is joined in rest by her grandparents, mother Myrtle, father Fred, husband Richard Ball, her brothers James and Jack Cavenaugh, her sister Mary(Cavenaugh) Whitesell along with many other loved ones throughout her life. She was cherished deeply by many.
A Celebration of Life for Ruth will take place on Friday,December 6, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home,1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218. Schedule:8:00 am –9:00 am for visitation at the funeral home, 9:30 am – 10:00 am, burial at Ft Sam Houston cemetery and 10:30 Celebration of Life service at the funeral home. All wishing to pay their respects and celebrate her life are welcomed.
