Ruby Ruth Sledge, known as Ruth to family and friends, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 92. She was born January 29, 1924 in Anna, Texas to Henry A. and Maude Bryan. She grew up in Taylor, Texas, graduated from Taylor High School, and later moved to San Antonio, TX. She married Louis Kenneth Coberly and had two children. In 1976, she married Everett Sledge and together they helped raise two grandchildren, Tobias (Toby) and Erica Cook.
Ruth had a successful career working for Southwestern Bell. She retired in the fall of 1982 after 35 years of service. After retiring, she served as President, and later, Treasurer, of the San Antonio AARP. She was also the editor of the local AARP Chapter newsletter. She was an active member of Super Adults and loved playing bunco.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Aileen and Dorothy (Dot), husband Everett Sledge and step-daughter Lana McDaniels. Survivors include sister Doris (Dotsy) Roznovak, son Kenneth Coberly, daughter Rebekah Cook, step-daughter Kathy Nelson, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
