Ruby E. Franz

Ruby Edna Franz passed away on September 10, 2013 at 89 years of age in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on July 4, 1924 in Lake Charles, Louisiana and lived most of her life in Alexandria, Louisiana. She worked at Security Bank in Alexandria from the time she completed high school until her retirement. Ruby never married or had any children but she dearly loved her family and spent all of her life living with or near her six older siblings. When two of her sisters moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2000, she quickly followed and happily remained there until her recent death. Ruby loved to travel with friends and family and told the stories about their destinations often. She regularly attended Community Bible Church with special friends that provided a ride for her each weekend. She outlived her entire immediate family but enjoyed the company of her San Antonio adopted family in the years following their passing.

She’s survived by five nephews and two nieces: James Eyre of Mesa, Arizona; Byron Eyre of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Howard Holton of Fort Worth, Texas; D.L. Franz of Hempstead, Texas; Ruth Ellen Pipes of Lafayette, Indiana; Anita Aikman of Mustang, Oklahoma and Ron Franz of Mustang, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 5 at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 11am.
