Robert Floyd Pope, age 77, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, in San Antonio, TX. Known as Bob to everyone, he died peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Bob was born in Frederick, OK, and raised there by his grandparents, Will & Mattie Allen. He graduated from and played varsity football for Frederick High School. He served four years in the U.S Army, trained as a sharpshooter and certified as a radar repair technician. In 1966, he married Linda Kay Cinnamon, with whom he raised a family with and loved for more than 50 years. In October 1987, he opened Hesselbein Tire Southwest in San Antonio, TX, which he successfully managed until retirement in February 2009. Bob was passionate about family, his grandchildren, and Oklahoma Sooner football and volunteering at church. He will be fondly remembered for family Disney trips, living on chips and salsa, and cheating outrageously at games. He is survived by his wife, Linda K. Pope; his sons Jim Pope (JoAnna) of Tavares, FL, Chris Pope (Kimberly) of New Braunfels, TX; his grandchildren Brenden Marshall Pope and Courtney Elizabeth Pope; and a sister, Louvnia Jean Richards (Tom) of Crowley, TX. Visitation will begin on Monday, May 7, 2018 from 6pm-8pm at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 3pm at the funeral home with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
