He was born in Sheridan, Arkansas to the late Wilbur and Lottie Paxton. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his grandson William Robert Paxton.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Joan P. Paxton; daughter Patricia (Scott) Streifert; son Robert (Ann) Paxton Jr.; grandchildren Jillian (Mark) Streifert-Bricher, Jayme (Ryan) Streifert-Becker, Austin (Nicole) Streifert, Sarah (Chris) Paxton-Ballard, Jennifer (Joe) Paxton-Palmer, Robert T. Paxton, and Christopher Luke Paxton; great-grandchildren Paxton Paige Becker, Patrick Scott Bricher, Carson Scott Becker, and Sean Cameron Bricher; niece Lori (Kevin) Price; and nephew Sam (Sharon) Fisher.
Robert was a graduate of Springfield Consolidated Union High School, Springfield, Oregon. He attended college at Little Rock Junior College, Little Rock, Arkansas; Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York; and University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio.
He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a Russian Linguist in Libya and Pakistan during the Korean War. Upon discharge, he became employed by the Air Technical Institute Center as a civilian at Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. Prior to retirement, he spent 30 years engaged in scientific and technical intelligence activities.
He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his family. In addition, he was an amazing artist. He will be greatly missed.
